The aim of Black History Month (BHM) is to celebrate the contributions and influence of black people on British society. This year's theme is 'Proud to be' with individuals and celebrities such as Dr Ranj Singh sharing their thoughts on the subject.

There are a range of activities taking place across the city. Throughout October, the BHM flag will be flown from outside the Civic Centre.
