From 12 April the hospitality sector has been able to open for outside service. To help with the post lockdown recovery, businesses can apply for outdoor seating in a much quicker and cost-effective way.

Southampton City Council is working in partnership with GO! Southampton to create more opportunities for outdoor dining. The initiative includes extending existing seating areas and introducing new ones but also opening up outdoor areas of the city for businesses that currently have no outdoor space.

The pavement licences introduced by the government make it easier for the hospitality sector to create outdoor dining space. The turnaround time of the application process has been accelerated and the licence fees reduced to just £100. They are valid until 30 September 2021.
