Specialist housebuilder and brownfield developer Inland Homes has welcomed the very first residents into its brand new homes at Chapel Riverside on the banks of the River Itchen, Southampton.
The pioneering group of phase one homeowners collected the keys to their one and two bedroom apartments in Greenwich House and Woodbury House on 28 and 29 June. They were greeted by the Inland Homes site and sales teams bearing ice cold refreshments on what were two of the hottest days of the year.
Vicki Noon, Sales and Marketing Director at Inland Homes said; “It only seems like yesterday that Chapel Riverside was a brownfield site - the old town depot. Now it is a riverside destination and home to the stunning apartments of phase one. We are hugely excited to have welcomed our first residents, and look forward to launching the second phase of homes early next year.”
Inland Homes is working with Southampton City Council on Chapel Riverside, which is one of Southampton’s VIP projects and has an approximate GDV of £100m. It is set to transform the former town depot with a range of 457 one bedroom to family properties, all located in a walkable environment close to Ocean Village with easy access to the river and Southampton city centre.
Councillor Christopher Hammond, Leader of Southampton City Council said: “The first residents moving in to the Chapel Riverside residential development heralds a key milestone in another of Southampton City Council’s ‘Very Important Projects’, as part of our ambitious plan for economic growth and development within the city. Our ongoing partnership with Inland Homes plc is part of a radical scheme of improvement in the waterfront areas of Southampton.
“The creation of over 450 new homes at the Chapel Riverside site and a further 350 at the Meridian Waterside development form the Itchen Riverside VIP area, which is one of seven key areas re-shaping the landscape of the city, creating desirable waterfront dwellings and accompanying landscapes, improving access, creating new jobs and promoting further investment in Southampton.”
Phase one and two of Meridian Waterside are now completed and the next phase of waterside apartments are due to be launched in late autumn.
The Chapel Riverside development will include residential properties in a mix of heights and building types. The scheme will have a new square with cafes, restaurants and shops as well as spaces for retained and enhanced marine industry and activities. It will also feature a publicly accessible waterfront walkway for residents and visitors.
Inland Homes is currently developing the next phase of Chapel Riverside. Work will commence on this new stage in late summer 2018, and final completion of the site is expected in 2022.
